  • Heat resistance (depending on the edge) approx. 80°C, and will resist temperatures of up to 120°C for short times in the drying channel
  • Cold resistance of approx. -20°C (depending on the edge)
  • Good water resistance (important when staining or bleaching veneer edging)
  • Good aging and oxidation resistance

Properties of the AdvantEdge 779.1

Feature Value
Adhesive Base EVA-Copolymers
Specific Weight Approx 1.38 g/cm³
Viscosity (Brookfield HBTD) at 180°C: 100,000 ± 20,000 mPa s
at 200°C: 50,000 ± 12,000 mPa s
Melt Index with DIN 53 735 (MFI 150?2.16) 50 ± 15g.10 min.

Chemical Name Ethylene-vinyl-acetate copolymers
Flammability Ignition > 300°C (588°F approx.)
Density ~ 1.3 g/cm³
CAUTION: Hot Melt Adhesives release unpleasant smelling vapors when heated. Always work in an area the has an appropriate ventilation/exhaust device.

Application Machinery

  • Automatic edge banding machines with roller application
  • Automatic edge banding machines with spray nozzle application
  • Units for precoating edging

Application Techniques

Maximize successful bonding by removing all dust and acclimating boards and edges to room temperature of at least 18°C (64°F). Ideally moisture content of the wood should be 8-10%. Avoid drafts and process substrates at precise and correct angles. Use an independent lab, bimetal or electrical contact thermometer, and check it regularly. Adjust temperature as needed.

Technique Instructions
Rate of Feed 20-30m (70'-100')/min, depending on edge width. A slow line can cause faulty gluing.
Application Quantity Apply the glue until it shows slightly on the (to be glued) part's edge. Check the uniformity of the adhesive film with a strip of transparent rigid PVC.
Consumption for Precoating Edges 80-100 g/m2 (3-4 ounce/10.7639 SF)
Post Treatment Glued material can be sawn, routed, planed, etc. immediately after bonding
Cleaning of Machine Follow manufacturer's directions
Waste Disposal Disposal of contents, containers, etc. must comply with federal, state, and local regulations. The 779.1 containers are recyclable.
